I *heart* hand-me-downs

I love love love hand me downs.
What: Some of the clothes that were in the Evil Storage Boxes
How Long Kept: let's just round it up and call it a year
Why Kept: They are perfectly good, they might be worth something, The Kid will wear them (in two to four years, but in the meantime I have to store them in my small little 50s ranch). I should have said no, but couldn't.
Destination: Some will go to my friend "Q" and the rest Goodwill or Amvets or the like.
Confession. I organized what I loved from the boxes and placed them in a plastic bin for safe keeping until The Kid grows into them. Both children have been blessed with WONDERFUL hand-me-downs from my very generous friends.

What: old gold and silver jewelry
Why kept: might be work something, out of sight, it was a gift from x, y and z
Last used: some of the silver was so tarnished, I'm guessing 20 years. Some even from boyfriends in high school YIKES!
Destination: these places that buy you gold for cash (well a check anyway) have been popping up all over the place. So I dug through my old jewelry and took it to one. I got about $59.44 for it. I'm sure it was worth double that but it's out of my house. Yay! The earrings that were worth more will be listed on e-bay this weekend if I have the time

One strange thing happened after I left the place, I started to get a pounder of a headache. I think it was from handling the bad chi jewelry. Or maybe it was the fumes from the glue and new cheap carpeting in the place. Or perhaps it was from the other people's bad chi jewelry. Anyway. Good riddance to old and broken jewelry that I was never going to wear again!

Mess Transit

What:   Metrocards, each with funding for less than one ride.
Origin:  Annoying MTA insistence on selling the cards for cash value, rather than a number of rides (and having the number of rides have odd, hard to calculate costs due to multi-ride discounting.)
Usage:   Some.   I usually get the unlimited ride versions, unless I'll be out of town a lot.
How Long Kept:   At least since Christmastime, one possibly since last August.
Why Kept:  They're Worth Money.
Destination:   They're done, shredded.   I filled 'em up and used them both.
