Low Potential

What:  The cord cover for a monitor "M" and I sold on eBay.
Origin:  Disorganization.
How long kept:  Probably since April, when it surfaced in a stash of electronic flotsam.   We got rid of the monitor in December.
Why kept:   Because I might mail it to the guy who bought the monitor on eBay, if only "M" would turn up his email address.   It Might Be Useful.
Destination:  NYC landfill, baby.

Confession:  In Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things,"potential" is quoted as one reason for pathological hoarding...some people who have "issues" with hoarding look at each thing as though they might do something with it.  Some day.   This was illustrated by a woman going through stacks and stacks of paper, and finding a phone number...with no name, or other point of reference.   When questioned, she wanted to keep it.   She reasoned that even though she didn't remember writing it down, she must have considered it to be important.   And she might call the number to find out why.   Some day.

This came to mind when I picked this up and considered its fate, for the 4th or 5th time since it came to the surface.

Aargh.
