  1. "S", I feel like checking "I have that" about 17 times. I have a few storage boxes (Storage Boxes are Evil) on a shelf in my closet filled with vintage clothing and purses, most of which were last used in the late 80s. Maybe a few in the early 90s.

When I listened to that NPR story we posted yesterday about the psychiatrist treating the woman in California (hoarder) who was hanging onto a 30 year old white fake fur coat that no longer fit, my mind went to those boxes.

Seeing this purse gives me the same thought.

Someday my newborn niece may curse my name, but that stuff has got to go.

  2. I actually still have my "real" vintage purses and also (more important, in this post) use them. (My definition of vintage is 1920s to the1960s). This one was not vintage, but a wannabe. I am such a snob :) Plus, no history of any kind, for me. Just a hand-me-down. And I can't quite bring myself to chant the "storage boxes are evil" mantra. But I hear ya!

  3. Ah, faux vintage! Your other purses are thus treasures, and not bloggable.

And more on Storage Boxes are Evil at another time. Storage Boxes themselves are "empty" of any attribute...it's how I use them that has clogged parts my closets, mostly with paper.

And my vintage clothes, sigh. My friend S from Portland, (hereby christened S/PDX) who may lurk here occasionally, thought that we should add a Reason: "Because It's Vintage." I've been saving that category, either for her debut on the blog, or for when my state of readiness leads me to crack open those boxes. But we can use it anytime we'd like!
